Title: Intro to Blackwork

Description: In this class, we will learn a very simple technique that is one variant used to embellish textiles. Called Spanishwork because it was made popular by Queen Ann of Aragon in England, this stitch has actually been found in fragments dating back much further from the middle east.
Students will be given the materials to work on a bookmark that they may keep.
Class limit 10. Ages 5+

Description: Participants will learn how to make a delicious bread and a potage over an open fire using period utensils. All you need is your hands, an appetite, and the ability to taste the resulting delights.

Description: All around the world, before the advent of refrigeration, mankind has been preserving meat in different ways. This class will teach you how to preserve your meats with salt and spices. There will be a tasting of previously preserved tasty bits.

Title: 14th Century Zoot Suit, Pattern Yours?
Materials: You will need about 2 yards of a firm, non-stretch woven fabric.
Double jacquard is the first choice, and generally upholstery fabric is a good second choice. You will also need all your pins, a pair of scissors, and a sharpie marker.
Bring a notebook and pen to take notes.

Description: Have you ever wanted to join the 14th century mafia, but didn’t know what to wear?? Come spend a couple hours and drape a basic pattern for a cotehardie.
This class is for both men and women.

Title: Silk Banner Painting

Description: In this class we will learn the basic technique of how to set up a simple frame, set your fabric in the frame, transfer your art to the fabric, line your art using a resist, and then fill in with color. Each student will be given a silk stretched hoop to practice on. Students are encouraged to bring a picture of their device or other item they would like to paint. Due to the size of the hoops, please avoid complex linework.

Title: Brewing Around the World
Materials: Provided

Time: 3pm – 1.5hrs – Tent 2
Description: Fermentation of one kind or another can be found all over the world, dating back to the earliest of times. This class will explore the different wines, beers, and other spirits made from local plants in countries that Magellan and his explorers visited.
There will be a demonstration of wine or mead making, and a tasting of previously brewed concoctions (must be 21 to taste) to help the student understand ingredients and brewing times.
